Weather helped us at the beginning of the week with Monday sketchers having a superb day as did Tuesday though out of the wind on Mt Victoria was more enjoyable.

What do you do with a huge vista? Thumbnail it first and try and bring in some foreground to lead you into the sketch. All Gen sketchers classes started off with some pure watercolour exercises to get us in the ‘groove.’ On wet`n windy Saturday, there was no way we were going up that mountain so we did some quick sketches of the ferry – and when trying to sketch that KEA she goes like the clappers! Watercolour rain and pens all blobbed together – but they breed us hardy and were not always going to be sketching in brilliant sun – see you all next week. ☺
